The Inspiration: The Peach is mentioned in the books of Confucius, fifth century before the Christian era, and the antiquity of the knowledge of the fruit in China is further proved by representations of it in sculpture and on porcelain. It is said to have been first cultivated in England in the first half of the sixteenth century. The tales of the fruit and depiction of its beauty that we decided to bring its scent to life in the best way possible.

The Story: In the 1890’s, Italian talc was mixed with plasters, to reduce irritation. Soon customers were asking for more talc. Shortly thereafter, that scented talc was being sold as baby powder, creating the link in our minds between the scent of baby powder and fresh cleanliness. It is that fresh scent that is the inspiration for Demeter’s Baby Powder.
